I purchased this 1966 Blue Chevy II in 1976 for $1,425. It was an original L79. The original motor was gone, so I replaced it with a 327. I raced it that year, and it ran a 7.70s.

I married my beautiful wife the next year in 1977, and the car was used as a family driver. In 1978, it went to the barn where it sat for 20 years while we raised our 3 children.

I pulled it back out of the barn in 1999 when I installed a power glide. I raced it that season, and it ran a 7.40s! After that season, we retired it back to the barn until 2007.

In 2007, a complete restoration began. I gutted the car, media blasted, primed, and painted it back to its original Marina Blue. On the Dyno at Vincennes University, it showed 393 RWHP.

The red 1966 Chevy II in some of the photos was purchased recently at an estate auction. It was originally a 4-speed. It now has a 4L60E transmission with a 2500 converter. Under the hood, it has a 327 with a mild cam. 10 bolt rear end and 373 gears.
