I purchased my 1964 Chevy II SS from Irvington, KY, in 2020. Shortly after bringing it home, it was disabled, turning my simple project into a three-and-a-half-year build. It started with Scooty Hinkle, who tackled the tough job of replacing the floor pans from front to rear and installing Detroit Speed mini tubs.
Next, Larry Keating stepped in to handle the major bodywork. He replaced the B-pillar, fixed dents in the roof, and replaced both quarter panels, the rear sail panel, tail light panels, doors, fenders, and hood. Larry also handled all the custom fabrication and intricate bodywork, making sure everything was perfect.
The heart of the car is a powerful engine from Smeding Performance in Texas. For the transmission, I chose a Tremec TKX from Silver Sport Transmission, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. I also opted for sleek Budnik wheels to complete the look.
Throughout the process, I took on the challenge of all the assembly work and rewiring myself. It was a labor of love, turning a disabled car into a masterpiece.
