In 2013, Frank Deutsch had the good fortune of acquiring the 1965 Nova directly from its inaugural owner, John Holiday. Dating back to 1965, during John Holiday’s tenure at a GM parts plant in Michigan, he initiated an order for the very same 1965 Nova.

What truly distinguishes this 1965 Nova is its HD radiator and shroud assembly. Although it might seem far-fetched, John Holiday himself confirmed on multiple occasions that this radiator is the original one that accompanied the Nova. To add further credibility, Frank possesses the initial radiator support that was exchanged for a new GM replacement. The authentic GM radiator support showcases four distinct bolt markings, impeccably aligning with the HD radiator currently housed within the Nova.

Coincidentally, another individual from California also owned an identical radiator and shroud configuration, albeit in a 1965 wagon. Both vehicles, manufactured later in that model year, shared the V01 HD radiator option. As is evident, the radiator in this Nova closely mirrors the 1966 iteration, featuring the inlet positioned on the driver’s side. This modification prompted the thermostat housing to extend directly towards the front. One can’t help but ponder if fellow enthusiasts possess the same radiator and shroud setup in their 1965 Nova models.

John Holiday amassed a collection of GM parts during the 1970s, including fenders, door skins, and several rare one-year trim elements. Consequently, Frank undertook conscientious efforts to integrate as many original GM parts as possible. The interior underwent meticulous craftsmanship by SMS Auto Fabrics, faithfully reproducing the pattern and color combinations originally adorning the Nova. Furthermore, GM metallic brake shoes were successfully sourced.

This Nova is a numbers-matching gem, painstakingly restored to capture the essence of its appearance when it first rolled off the assembly line in July of 1965.

Heartfelt appreciation extends to the community of Nova enthusiasts whose counsel and support substantially contributed to this restoration endeavor. Today, Frank is overjoyed to take the wheel of this cherished 1965 Nova.
