The 1963 Nova has a long history in our family.

The first ’63 Nova was first owned by my older brother, who bought it in 1971. He did some work on it and made a rocket ship out of it. I have memories of very fast rides in those days!

Family life moved ownership to me, and I restored that car with a Power Pack 283 from the LT1 350. When my son was born, we brought him how from the hospital in that car. That was back in August of 1986.

I ended up selling that car, but years later, we found another 1963 Nova in a tow in yard, waiting rescue. It was missing a motor, transmission, hood and a handful of smaller items. My son was old enough now to give me a choice. Whether he bought it or I did, this second 1963 Nova was coming home with us.

When we got it home, we COMPLETELY disassembled it.

That’s when the fun began.

We were able to save all the glass and its date coded to the car, as well as the lock system. I was trying to keep as much originality to the car while giving it a solid update at the same time. This ’63 Nova (round two) has come a long way with new fuel lines, front springs, A/C parts and brakes all around. It’s always a work in progress, but we are proud of how far she’s come.

Now that my son has driven this ’63 beauty, he can say that he has driven a car just like the one that we brought him home from the hospital in.

Very few people can make that claim!
