Although this switch may appear the same on the outside as a Powerglide switch, the internals are quite different.
This switch allows for proper operation of neutral safety and also of your back-up lights when upgrading to a 3-speed or 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission.
It mounts on the side of the original SS floor shifter.
